Scenes From Chesuncook

It's been 1 week since we've been up here and we are getting more and more acquainted. Rainy days have outnumbered sunny days, so we've been doing more indoor than outdoor activities, like experimenting with baking bread (want to get it right before guests get here), making granola, and reading (J finished TWO books already!).

We did go for a 6-mile bike ride in between raindrops a few days ago. The old unused logging roads make for easy riding around the village and great berry picking.

Today was beautiful, so we took the kayaks out for a spin on Chesuncook Lake. Chesuncook is the 3rd largest lake in Maine and 20+ miles long, so we have a lot of exploring to do on it. We only hit the northern sector toward the West Branch of the Penobscot on this trip.

And no moose sightings while out on the lake, but we did watch our first seaplane land/take off.

J also started mowing the lawn. I say started because it will probably be a 2-day event. At least he's got a good view while doing it!

And, besides hummingbirds, we have our very own robin's nest!

Just wanted to check in and show you some postcards from the edge, in case you are interested!

  2. Awesome! LOL, mowing a large lawn does take time! It probably takes us 1.5-2 hours to do our 1.25 acres.

  3. That place looks awesome! I might try to ride my motorcycle up there and visit yall next summer if you're still there... And maybe I can sell you a new John Deere commercial zero-turn mower so you can free up some of your grass mowing time?
